    A Community Planning Weekend was held on
    12 and 13 October 2007

    Over 150 people from the local area took part in workshops
    took guided walks around the site and formed,
    "hands-on planning" groups focusing on a wide range of issues.

  • The key themes discussed were:

    ~ Understanding the implications of development on Englefield Green;
    ~ The proposed uses and importance of providing student accommodation;
    ~ Providing access for pedestrians wanting to enjoy the existing parkland and woodland;
    ~ Future management and maintenance of the state;

    ~ Respect the heritage and history of the site;
    ~ The location and character of the new development;
    ~ Concern about the impact of traffic;
    ~ The consultation process;

    A draft vision and masterplan were developed for the redevelopment of the Runnymede Campus and presented at a public meeting held on 16 October 2007.

        Next Steps

        More opportunities for the community to influence the evolution of the
        scheme in a series of forums will be held over the winter and into the New Year.
        The forums will be open to everyone and will focus on particular topics such as landscape, heritage, traffic and transport.
